Car Shipping

Car shipping requires different entities and different players in the logistic industry to get the job done.

Because a single car shipping company can not service all cities and states, the job of car shipping brokers comes into play.

Car shipping brokers do the front end of the job by preparing all the information’s about customers: as far as the pick-up and delivery locations, phone numbers, car make and model, etc. Along with that car shipping brokers work the soft part of the industry by gathering leads of potential auto shipping clients either through the internet or by calling dealers, from the a car shipping order is placed with a broker a customer will be communicating with the broker until a driver gets assigned to the customer to ship their car, once the vehicle is dispatched (a term used in the car shipping industry and it means giving the shipping job to a certain driver), the driver information will be forwarded to the customer, and an estimated pick up and delivery dates will be communicated as well.

From that moment the driver will call the customer and advise them of his estimated arrival at the location of the car, once he is at the pick up location, a bill of lading is given to the customer or his agent to sign after a walk around the car is done with both parties, and before the driver picks up the automobile for shipping.

When the driver gets close to the drop of location a phone call will be made to advice the receiving end of the drop of time and the same procedure of the car inspection will be redone again to insure that the auto shipping of the customer's vehicle has gone through with no damage to the car.

In occasions when a damage occurs to a certain vehicle, confusion tends to take place as to who is responsible for the damage, and as auto shipping broker are not required to carry cargo insurance, and only a surety bond, the responsibility falls to the driver, and that brings us again to the importance of the bill of lading and the inspection process that should take place before the auto shipping task is performed.
